Eastern New Mexico honors senior football players at season finale against TAMUK

Eastern New Mexico University honored 11 seniors during its final football game of the season against Texas A&M-Kingsville. The seniors recognized were Jonathon Carter, Christian Griego, Joshua Kauvesi, Shawn Pepp, Dalton Flowers, Oiseowemi Aghomon, Unaloto Kaufusi, Dillon Hein, Ryan Travis, Aaron Acosta-Lewis, and Vee Williams.

Head coach Kelley Lee expressed his appreciation for the group. "Proud of our seniors," Lee said. "We wish them the best as they begin a new part of their lives."

In the matchup, Texas A&M-Kingsville secured a 45-28 victory over Eastern New Mexico by relying on a strong passing offense that set a school record for total receptions in a single game. The Javelinas completed 31 out of 40 passes for 363 yards. Quarterback Jack Turner threw two touchdown passes and had one interception. The interception was made by Eastern New Mexico's Matthew Quartieri on Turner's first throw; Quartieri also contributed 14 tackles with 1.5 tackles for loss.

Eastern New Mexico lost the time of possession battle for only the second time this season as Texas A&M-Kingsville controlled the ball for nearly 35 minutes and converted seven out of fifteen third downs along with all three fourth down attempts.

The Greyhounds started with possession but lost a fumble inside the red zone which led to Texas A&M-Kingsville’s opening touchdown. ENMU tied the score before the end of the first quarter after an interception from Quartieri set up a short drive.

Running back Demarion Finch led Eastern New Mexico’s rushing effort with 16 carries for 126 yards and one touchdown—most coming in the first half—while Jarius Stewart added 93 yards and a score on 17 carries. William Reynolds also rushed for a touchdown.

In passing plays, Stewart completed one pass—a 75-yard touchdown to Gerry Gomez—and Chad Ragle connected with Gomez on an additional eleven-yard completion.

On defense, Dylan Quartieri recorded thirteen tackles while freshman Armad Bailey had two pass breakups and seven tackles. Elijah Thorp contributed seven tackles including one tackle for loss; DJ Moore and Adrian Melvin each finished with five tackles.

Ryan Travis was successful on all four point-after attempts.

Eastern New Mexico concluded its season with an overall record of three wins and eight losses (3-6 in conference play), marking its highest number of conference victories since 2019.
