The Eastern New Mexico University women's basketball team experienced their first loss of the season, falling to Adams State University 66-63 on Saturday at Plachy Hall in Alamosa, Colorado. The defeat brings the Greyhounds' overall record to 1-1.
Chloe Dallas led the Greyhounds with a strong showing, recording 17 points and collecting 17 rebounds, eight of which were offensive. She shot 7-for-17 from the field and made three out of four free throws.
Julieta Ceja added 13 points in her 25 minutes on the court. She was efficient from long range, making all three of her attempts from beyond the arc, and also contributed five rebounds and two assists.
Nataya Lockett scored 10 points despite shooting just 2-for-12 from the field. She made six out of seven free throws and also provided four rebounds, three assists, and one steal in her time on the floor.
Shay Moseberry came off the bench to score 11 points in 18 minutes. Most of her attempts were from three-point range, where she connected on three out of six shots.
Eastern New Mexico held a narrow lead at halftime with a score of 27-24 but was outscored by Adams State in the second half by a margin of 42-36. The Greyhounds had an advantage in rebounding with a total of 42 boards compared to Adams State's 29 but struggled with shooting efficiency at just under 33 percent for the game while Adams State finished at nearly 45 percent.
The Greyhounds will attempt to recover when they travel to face Oklahoma Baptist on Monday, November 18. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. CST tip-off.
