Texas 2036 has announced that its latest voter poll indicates health-care affordability and value are primary concerns among Texans. This announcement was made on the Texas 2036 website.
According to the ninth Texas Voter Poll conducted by Texas 2036, 82% of Texas voters say they are more likely to support a candidate who prioritizes lowering health-care prices. This makes affordability the most influential factor among all issues tested. The finding suggests that health care has surpassed education and property taxes as Texans’ top policy concern, indicating a growing demand for statewide cost reform initiatives.
A 2023 survey by the Healthcare Value Hub, which included more than 1,400 Texas adults, found that 62% of respondents delayed or went without health care in the last year due to cost. Additionally, 84% expressed concerns about affording health care in the future, reflecting widespread affordability burdens across demographics and regions. The survey also revealed that 44% struggled to pay medical bills, underscoring systemic pricing challenges statewide.
According to a new report via Forbes Advisor cited by the Healthcare Value Hub, Texas ranked fifth highest among U.S. states in health-care costs in 2024. Average employer plus-one premiums were around $4,626 and family premiums about $7,051. The state also had 16% of adults skipping a doctor visit due to cost, highlighting persistent affordability challenges and limited access to preventive care across Texas.
The ninth Texas Voter Poll by Texas 2036 surveyed 1,001 registered voters statewide between September 25 and October 1, 2025, with a margin of error of ±3.1%. Founded by Tom Luce, Texas 2036 is a nonpartisan, data-driven public policy organization dedicated to ensuring the state remains strong, competitive, and equitable by its bicentennial.
