Eastern New Mexico University's rodeo teams achieved a fourth-place finish for both the men's and women's squads at the Texas Tech rodeo in Lubbock, Texas.
Head coach John Sharp commented on the team's progress, saying, "The rodeo was really good. Coming up on the midway point of the season, we have a lot of kids giving themselves opportunities to win. We are still looking at the areas where we can clean up and improve. We want to have a growth mindset."
Three men and three women scored points for Eastern New Mexico during the event.
Jacob Walters led the men's team by winning the all-around title. Walters earned 145 points in team roping alongside partner Teagan Roukema. The pair finished third in the long round and split first and second in the short go, ultimately taking second place overall in their event. Walters also competed in steer wrestling, finishing third in the long round with a time of 4.9 seconds and fourth in the short go with a 6.1-second run, resulting in a third-place average finish and 110 additional points.
Cutter Pareo contributed 125 points for Eastern New Mexico, all from tie down roping. Pareo finished third in both rounds with times of 8.9 and 9.1 seconds respectively, splitting fifth and sixth place overall to earn his total.
Bowdy Neece added 50 points after securing second place in his opening run of tie down roping with an 8.7-second performance.
On the women's side, Mackinzee Dermody was again Eastern New Mexico's top scorer with 140 points in goat tying while competing at her alma mater. She took fourth place in the long round with an 8.4-second time and won the short go with another run of 8.4 seconds, finishing among the top three competitors overall.
Shaeden Marr collected 25 points in breakaway roping by placing fifth in her first run with a time of 2.7 seconds and earning additional points by splitting sixth and seventh place after a 3.1-second effort.
Kassidy Lightfoot rounded out scoring for Eastern New Mexico by splitting multiple places with a time of 2.8 seconds to secure two points.
The next competition for Eastern New Mexico's rodeo teams will be at Clarendon College from November 13-15 as they close out this half of their season.
