The Western New Mexico University Women's Golf team completed the first round of the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate in Waikoloa, Hawaii, on October 20. The team finished the day in sixth place out of nine teams, posting a combined score of 315, which is 35 over par.
Nicole Jasso and Falyn Lackey led the Mustangs with scores of 78 (+8) each, placing them in a tie for 15th out of 49 competitors. Alexandria Klemke followed closely with a score of 79 (+9), tying her for 22nd place. Corynn Speer shot an 80 (+10), finishing the day tied for 26th, while Erin Turner rounded out the lineup with an 86 (+16), tying for 41st place.
The team will return to Waikoloa Beach Golf Club on October 21 for the second round as they aim to finish their fall season on a strong note.
Western New Mexico University competes in NCAA Division II and is part of the Lone Star Conference.
