Eastern New Mexico volleyball falls to Sul Ross State in straight sets

Eastern New Mexico University's volleyball team lost in three straight sets to Sul Ross State University on Thursday at the Gallego Center in Alpine, Texas. The match scores were 24-26, 22-25, and 22-25.

With this defeat, Eastern New Mexico's season record stands at 4-14 overall and 1-6 in conference play. Sul Ross State improved to 3-11 overall and 1-7 in the conference.

The Greyhounds faced challenges on offense, ending the match with a -.045 attack percentage. They had 23 kills but committed 31 errors on 176 attempts. Additionally, the team made 12 service errors and managed only two service aces.

Addison Bartlett led the team with seven kills, and Sophia Valdez added five kills. Together, they accounted for more than half of the team's total kills. On defense, Imahni Brown recorded a team-high 16 digs, while Bartlett contributed 13 digs.

Sul Ross State had a more efficient offense, registering 41 kills with 34 errors on 183 attempts for a .038 attack percentage. The Lobos also had six service aces and four blocks during the match, which was attended by about 200 spectators.

Eastern New Mexico is scheduled to play its next conference match against Western New Mexico University in Silver City on Saturday, October 18, with the first serve set for 2 p.m. MT.
