Eastern New Mexico University's women's soccer team was defeated by Sul Ross State University with a final score of 4-2 on Wednesday in Alpine, Texas.
The Greyhounds took an early lead in the first half, scoring within eight minutes when Louise Godden found the net, assisted by Samantha Wood. This marked Wood's first career assist. The team extended their lead with a second goal, as Samantha Wood scored with a header following a corner kick, with Godden providing the assist.
Goalkeepers Rosie Willmott Joyce and Kiley Patalan each played one half for Eastern New Mexico. Mia Jackson led the team in shots, recording four attempts and two on goal.
Sul Ross State responded in the second half by scoring four consecutive goals in the 61st, 79th, 82nd, and 90th minutes to secure the win.
The Greyhounds will play their next match at home against West Texas A&M on Saturday, October 12 at noon at Steve Loy Family Foundation Stadium.
