Orange County took the lead in the 16th minute, but New Mexico United equalized in the 33rd minute when forward Greg Hurst scored his sixth goal of the season. Hurst added another goal three minutes later after receiving a cross from Dayonn Harris, giving United a 2-1 advantage.
Orange County responded quickly, tying the game in the 39th minute and then moving ahead with a goal during first-half stoppage time, making it 3-2 at halftime.
In the second half, Kipp Keller scored his first professional goal in the 51st minute to level the score at 3-3. Goalkeeper Alex Tambakis made an important save in the 77th minute to maintain the tie. The match ended with both teams earning one point each.
Greg Hurst was recognized for his performance, scoring twice within three minutes in the first half. His two goals bring his season total to seven, making him New Mexico United’s top scorer this year. Kipp Keller also contributed significantly by scoring his first professional goal and helping shift momentum for United.
The match statistics showed that New Mexico United had more shots (14) compared to Orange County's ten. Both teams were even on fouls with eleven each, while Orange County had more shots on target (nine versus four). There were three yellow cards issued: Malik Pinto (OC), Mukwelle Akale (NM), and Ashton Miles (OC).
With only two regular-season matches remaining, New Mexico United will host Oakland Roots SC on Sunday, October 19, followed by Rhode Island FC on Friday, October 24 for Blackout Night. Both games are expected to be significant as playoff positions are determined.
