Eastern New Mexico University's volleyball team was defeated by Lubbock Christian University in straight sets (10-25, 10-25, 15-25) during a Lone Star Conference match held Tuesday at the Steve Loy Family Foundation Arena.
The Greyhounds, who now hold a 3-12 overall record and are 1-4 in conference play, were led defensively by sophomore Imahni Brown. Brown recorded ten digs, an ace, and a service point. Her defensive performance contributed to several extended rallies for ENMU against Lubbock Christian's offense, which posted a .289 hitting percentage over the match.
On offense, Sophia Valdez led Eastern New Mexico with six kills. Teammates McKenzie Hart and Isabella Hidalgo each added three kills. The Greyhounds struggled offensively against LCU’s front line and finished with a -.078 hitting percentage across all three sets.
Lubbock Christian improved its record to 13-4 overall and remains undefeated in conference play at 5-0. Bryleigh Schweer and Camryn Blair each had seven kills for the Lady Chaps, with Blair achieving them on a .174 hitting percentage. Four LCU players finished with at least five kills. Abby Dominguez led their defense with 17 digs.
Eastern New Mexico will attempt to recover from this loss when they travel to Canyon to face West Texas A&M on Saturday, October 11. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m. MST / 2 p.m. CST.
