Western New Mexico men's golf sits 13th after first day at National Fall Preview

The Western New Mexico University men's golf team completed the first day of competition at the National Fall Preview, held at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada. After 36 holes, the Mustangs are in 13th place out of 17 teams with a combined score of 295-289, totaling eight over par.

Oscar Feschuk led the team with rounds of 70 and 71, finishing the day at three under par and tied for 18th place. Jacob Alcorta improved in the second round with a score of 70 after an initial 76, placing him tied for 52nd among 94 competitors. Jonty Butcher recorded rounds of 74 and 73, finishing three over par and tied for 57th.

Jayden Schmitz ended the day tied for 78th with rounds of 75 and 76, totaling seven over par. Tyler Jackson rounded out the lineup with rounds of 86 and 75, finishing at seventeen over par and in 94th place.

The team will return to the course on October 7 for the final round of the tournament.
