Posthumus and Barris named Lone Star Conference volleyball players of the week

Western New Mexico University volleyball players Daphne Posthumus and Brynlee Barris have been recognized as Lone Star Conference (LSC) Players of the Week following strong performances in recent matches.

Daphne Posthumus, a freshman middle hitter and opposite hitter from Lelystad, Netherlands, was named LSC Freshman of the Week. Posthumus recorded a .440 hitting percentage and contributed seven blocks, five of which were solo, as the Mustangs secured conference victories over Texas A&M International and previously unbeaten Texas A&M-Kingsville. She also tallied 26 kills, four digs, and a total of 33 points. In the five-set win against Texas A&M-Kingsville, which had entered the match with a 12-2 overall record and a 4-0 mark in league play, Posthumus had five blocks that contributed to the Mustangs setting a program record with 20 blocks.

Brynlee Barris, a junior middle hitter and opposite hitter, was named LSC Defensive Player of the Week. Barris helped lead Western New Mexico to a 2-0 week in conference play with 15 blocks—10 solo—and 15 digs. In the match against Texas A&M-Kingsville, Barris recorded 11 blocks, tying for the most in a single match in the LSC this season, and played a key role in setting the program's all-time record with 20 blocks. Barris also added 20 kills, three service aces, and three assists.
