The Eastern New Mexico University women's soccer team lost 7-0 to Lubbock Christian University in a Lone Star Conference match on Saturday at the Steve Loy Family Foundation Stadium.
Lubbock Christian gained an early lead with Ella Spiller scoring in the 14th minute, assisted by Lauren Rotan. The Lady Chaps added to their advantage in the second half, with Sydney Smith finding the net in the 54th minute from a pass by Spiller. Casey Storer scored again for LCU in the 58th minute, and Riley Espinoza made it 4-0 in the 63rd minute.
Spiller registered her second goal of the game in the 74th minute, helped by Anna Brandt and Espinoza. Brandt closed out scoring for LCU with a goal in the 78th minute, assisted by Spiller and Manderigh Santos.
Eastern New Mexico attempted seven shots during the match. Meredith Brown and Simone Brothers each had one shot on target. The Greyhounds also recorded three corner kicks.
Goalkeeper Rosie Willmott Joyce started for ENMU, making two saves over 67 minutes before Kiley Patalan, a freshman, came on and added another save.
Eastern New Mexico will next play St. Edward's at home on Tuesday, October 8, as part of conference play.
