Eastern New Mexico University's volleyball team was defeated by Dallas Baptist University in a Lone Star Conference match on Saturday, with set scores of 12-25, 24-26, and 22-25. The game took place at the Steve Loy Family Foundation Arena during Dig Pink theme day.
Sophia Valdez, a junior outside hitter for Eastern New Mexico, led her team with 12 kills. Junior middle blocker Aaliyah Butler recorded eight kills and achieved a .538 hitting percentage, making only one error out of 13 attempts. Addison Bartlett contributed five kills, while McKenzie Hart added three kills and three block assists. Imahni Brown led the defense with 14 digs.
Dallas Baptist controlled the first set but faced more resistance from Eastern New Mexico in the following sets. The Greyhounds nearly extended the match to a fourth set before losing the third set 22-25.
Karly Wells led Dallas Baptist's offense with 18 kills and a .302 hitting percentage. Kalin Hubbard added six kills for DBU, which also finished with eight service aces.
Following this loss, Eastern New Mexico's record stands at 3-11 overall and 1-3 in conference play. The team will next host Lubbock Christian on October 7 at the Steve Loy Family Foundation Arena at 6 p.m.
