The Eastern New Mexico University (ENMU) women's soccer team is set to host Lubbock Christian University (LCU) at noon on October 4 at the Steve Loy Family Foundation Stadium. The match follows a two-game road stretch for ENMU.
In their previous encounters, LCU leads the series against ENMU with five wins, one loss, and two draws.
ENMU was ranked 14th in the Lone Star Conference preseason poll. Players Gaia Chies, Cristina Boluda Piqueras, and Rosie Willmott Joyce were highlighted as key athletes to watch this season. The team introduced five first-year players and has seven returning members from last year’s squad.
The Greyhounds recently suffered a 12-0 defeat against Texas Woman's University. During that match, ENMU did not register any shots on goal, while goalkeeper Rosie Willmott Joyce made seven saves. Earlier in the season, Louise Godden scored ENMU’s first goal during a match against UT Dallas on September 24.
Looking ahead, ENMU will play St. Edward's at home on October 8 in another conference matchup at Steve Loy Family Foundation Stadium.
Lubbock Christian was picked seventh in the Lone Star Conference preseason poll after receiving 392 votes. Ella Spiller was named an Offensive Player to Watch; Emma Best and Emma Wright were recognized as Defensive and Goalkeeper Players to Watch, respectively. Spiller currently leads her team with six goals and three assists from 29 shots this season. The Lady Chaps have attempted 135 shots compared to their opponents’ 102. Goalkeeper Emma Wright has started all nine matches for LCU, making 31 saves with a save percentage of .738. LCU is coming off a recent 1-0 conference win over UT Permian Basin.
