The Eastern New Mexico University (ENMU) volleyball team is preparing for its 2025 home-opener, hosting Texas Woman's University on October 3 at 6 p.m., followed by a match against Dallas Baptist University (DBU) on October 4 at 2 p.m. Both matches will take place at the Steve Loy Family Foundation Arena and are part of conference play.
ENMU enters the home stand with a split record from its recent road trip, having secured a win over Texas A&M International but falling to Texas A&M-Kingsville. Sophia Valdez currently leads the Greyhounds in kills with 149 this season and ranks third in the Lone Star Conference (LSC) for kills per set. Freshman Addison Bartlett has contributed 103 kills and sits among the top thirty in the conference.
Transfer student Amya Speller has recorded a team-high of 30 total blocks and added 60 kills, maintaining an attack percentage of .238. Setter Violeta Flores averages over five assists per set, totaling 214 so far this year. Defensive specialist Imahni Brown recently reached her 500th career dig during ENMU’s victory over Western New Mexico; she leads the squad with 192 digs and is sixth in the LSC for digs per set.
In service aces, ENMU is ninth in the conference with an average of just under two per set. The team's defensive performance places them ninth as well for digs per set, accumulating nearly sixteen each game across their matches this season.
Texas Woman's University arrives with an overall record of eight wins and five losses, holding one win and one loss within conference play. Their key players include Myracle Stockman—21st in LSC for kills per set—and Jonaida Donowa, who is second in blocking statistics within the conference. TWU leads its historical series against ENMU.
DBU enters with six wins and three losses overall but has yet to secure a victory in LSC competition this season after falling to Texas Woman's last weekend. Karly Wells stands out nationally, ranking second both in kills per set (over five) and points per set. Defensively, Aizlyn Dewberry tops her team’s blocking stats while Blue Anderson has posted significant dig numbers so far this year. DBU maintains a lead over ENMU historically; their last defeat by ENMU was more than a decade ago.
Following these home games, Eastern New Mexico will face Lubbock Christian next Tuesday at home as part of continued conference action.
