Western New Mexico women's golf sits eleventh after first day at WT Women's Invitational

The Western New Mexico University women's golf team began play at the WT Women's Invitational on September 29 in Amarillo, Texas. The tournament took place at Tascosa Country Club (La Paloma), where the Mustangs completed 36 holes and finished the first day in 11th place out of 15 teams with scores of 309 and 302 for a total of +43.

Alexandria Klemke led Western New Mexico with rounds of 76 and 71, finishing the day tied for 22nd among 82 competitors. Falyn Lackey followed closely with scores of 73 and 76, ending the day tied for 30th. Nicole Jasso recorded rounds of 80 and 76 to tie for 56th place.

Corynn Speer and Erin Turner both ended the first day at +18, tying for 65th position. Speer shot rounds of 81 and 79, while Turner posted consecutive rounds of 80. Kelly Peden, competing as an individual, also finished at +18 after shooting two rounds of 80.

The team is set to continue play on September 30 in Amarillo with a scheduled start time of 7:00 AM MT.
