Western New Mexico men's golf sits tied for twelfth after first round at DII Shootout

The Western New Mexico University Men's Golf team completed the first round of the DII Shootout in Tulum, Mexico, ending the day tied for 12th place. The Mustangs posted a team score of 318 (+30) in the opening round.

Jayden Schmitz led the team with a score of 74, which put him in a tie for seventh place individually. Teammates Oscar Feschuk and Tyler Jackson each shot an 81, placing them in a tie for 53rd. Jonty Butcher finished with an 82 and Jacob Alcorta scored an 86, leaving them tied for 58th and 69th, respectively.

The second round of play is scheduled to begin on September 29 at 8:20 AM MT as the Mustangs aim to improve their standing.
