The Eastern New Mexico University volleyball team secured a 3-1 victory against Texas A&M International in Laredo, Texas, on Friday evening. This win extends the Greyhounds' current streak to three consecutive matches.
Head coach Karli Bustos commented on the team's performance: "We had a slow start to the match, but I think the girls were able to knock off the rust and get rolling early. I am proud of the resiliency of this team and their ability to work through the struggles. I felt like we won the battle at the net and we were able to capitalize on errors to come out on top."
Sophia Valdez led Eastern New Mexico with 13 kills, while Imahni Brown contributed defensively with 25 digs and added three serving aces. Addison Bartlett was close to a double-double, finishing with nine kills and 12 digs. Violeta Flores recorded 21 assists, followed by Catalina Gutierrez with 18 assists.
In the fourth set, ENMU limited Texas A&M International to a -.119 hitting percentage and outperformed them overall, .149 to .052.
This result marks Eastern New Mexico's first win in Laredo against Texas A&M International since 2021. The team will next play Texas A&M-Kingsville on Saturday afternoon.
