Western New Mexico women's golf stands 11th after first day at RJGA Shootout

The Western New Mexico University Women's Golf team finished the first day of the RJGA Shootout at the Golf Club of Estrella in 11th place out of 14 teams. The team posted a combined score of 314 (+26) during the opening round.

Falyn Lackey led Western New Mexico with an even-par 72, which included two birdies and placed her in a tie for fifth individually. Corynn Speer followed with a round of 77, putting her in a tie for 36th. Alexandria Klemke recorded an 80, tying her for 47th position.

Nicole Jasso and Erin Turner rounded out the team's lineup with scores of 85 and 90, ranking them 66th and 69th respectively. Competing as an individual, Kelly Peden shot an 89 to stand alone in 68th place.

The Mustangs will resume play on Tuesday morning at the Golf Club of Estrella, aiming to improve their standing in the final round.
