Eastern New Mexico University's men's cross country team participated in the Lobo Cross Country Invitational, held at the UNM North Golf Course in Albuquerque. The event was hosted by the University of New Mexico and included teams such as New Mexico State, El Paso Community College, UTEP, and Northern New Mexico.
Assistant coach Keyanah Browning commented on the team's performance: "We didn't have our full group racing this weekend, and we didn't quite put ourselves in the race the way we needed to," Browning said. "Still, it served as a speed-endurance effort and gave us a good look at where we are as a team at this point in the season. We're going to take the time to train and prepare for the next meet."
The race took place under overcast skies with light rain on a hilly nine-hole golf course. Eloy Serrano Borrego was Eastern New Mexico's top finisher, placing 16th out of 34 runners with a time of 16:17.93. Other participants from Eastern New Mexico included Thomas Aerdts (18:24.06), Aiden Ramirez (18:31.92), Emmanuel Hernandez (18:57.32), and Alec Forney (21:09.34).
The team will not compete for two weeks as they focus on training ahead of their next scheduled meet at the NMJC Invitational on September 26.
