Eastern New Mexico University's cross country teams are preparing for a busy week, with athletes set to compete in two separate meets.

Last week, both the men's and women's teams participated in the Aggie Duels in Oklahoma. The men's team placed sixth while the women's team finished ninth. Elizabeth Lujan-Towles led the women with a 5k time of 21:15.5, and Eloy Serrano Borrego was the top finisher for the men, completing the 8k course in 27:11.3. The women's team had five runners finish, and seven men completed their race.

This week, the ENMU women's cross country team will travel to Lubbock for the Texas Tech Open hosted by Texas Tech University. Six Lone Star Conference programs are scheduled to compete: Angelo State, Eastern New Mexico, Lubbock Christian, UT Permian Basin, Western New Mexico, and West Texas A&M. ENMU's roster includes eight runners for this event. Three student-athletes—Chama El Hadiri, Madison Manuelito, and Joella Mathilda—are expected to make their season debuts after not competing last week.

Meanwhile, the ENMU men's cross country team will compete at the Lobo Cross Country Invitational in Albuquerque on September 13. The meet will take place at the UNM North Golf Course, a venue that has previously hosted NCAA regional events and local races. Notable participating teams include New Mexico, New Mexico State, and UTEP. The men's 5k race is scheduled to begin at 7:55 a.m., with five ENMU athletes expected to run on a course known for its straightaways and fast pace opportunities.
