Eastern New Mexico volleyball falls to Southwestern Oklahoma State at M.G.M. Chap Invite

Eastern New Mexico University's volleyball team lost its opening match at the 2025 M.G.M. Chap Invite, falling to Southwestern Oklahoma State University in straight sets (12-25, 16-25, 15-25) at the Rip Griffin Center in Lubbock, Texas.

Head coach Karli Bustos commented on the outcome, saying, "Southwestern Oklahoma State is a tough team and is coached well. We need matches like this to get us ready for conference. Matches like this expose a lot of weaknesses and we need to recognize them and get our mindset right for the next match."

Sophia Valdez led Eastern New Mexico with eight kills from 31 attempts and added three digs. Catalina Gutierrez contributed seven assists while Violeta Flores provided five assists. Imahni Brown recorded 12 digs, 11 receptions, and three assists. McKenzie Hart registered three blocks for the Greyhounds.

The loss puts Eastern New Mexico behind in their all-time series against Southwestern Oklahoma State, now trailing 4-7. The Greyhounds are scheduled to play two more matches tomorrow at the Rip Griffin Center—against Fort Lewis in the morning and CSU Pueblo in the afternoon.
