Millie McLelland-Brooks, a freshman at the University of New Mexico, has been recognized as the Mountain West Freshman of the Week. This announcement came after her impressive performance at the Lori Fitzgerald Open, where she finished third individually in her collegiate debut. The Scottish athlete was the top performer for the Lobo women's team in their annual 5K event, completing the race in 17:39.78. This time made her the second-fastest Division I finisher.
The UNM women's team secured third place with a total of 67 points, while the men's team achieved first place with 42 points.
The Lobos are set to compete again next weekend at home during the Lobo XC Invitational. The event will take place at UNM’s North Course on September 13.
