Eastern New Mexico University’s women’s cross country team is projected to finish 14th in the Lone Star Conference preseason poll, according to an announcement by the conference. The poll ranked 16 teams ahead of the upcoming season.

"I am looking forward to our first meet," said assistant coach Keyanah Browning. "Our women's team has grown over the last year and it's exciting to watch their growth over the last couple weeks of practice."

West Texas A&M is predicted to win the conference after receiving 30 out of 32 first-place votes. Other top-ranked teams include DBU, Midwestern State, Oklahoma Christian, and St. Edward's.

Chama El Hadiri and Elizabeth Lujan-Towles were named as runners to watch for Eastern New Mexico. The team will start its season on September 5 with a meet in Lawton, Oklahoma.

All programs in the Lone Star Conference will participate in the championship event scheduled for October 24 in Fort Worth, Texas, hosted by DBU.
