The National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC) is set to launch its first exhibition featuring artworks created by its staff and partners. The exhibition, titled "What We Bring to the Table," will open at the Center's Visual Art Museum on September 5 and will run until June 7, 2026.

Zack Quintero, Executive Director of NHCC, emphasized the significance of this event as part of their 25th-anniversary celebrations. "Since the Center opened in 2000, our staff has been the bedrock of all the work we do as an institution," Quintero said. He added that showcasing the creativity and dedication of their team is a fitting way to celebrate this milestone.

The exhibition features nearly 40 artworks from staff members who contribute creatively to the NHCC when not performing their regular duties. It includes pieces from those with established creative practices and others inspired by their surroundings at the center. The artworks reflect influences such as family, culture, community, and religion across various mediums like painting, drawing, sculpture, and photography.

Curator hazel batrezchavez noted the unique community that forms around the Art Museum. "Artists who are staff members bring their expertise, share their knowledge, and fill in gaps when needed to keep the Center going," she said. Batrezchavez highlighted that this exhibition provides a platform for solidarity and recognition among staff artists.

The public is invited to attend a free reception on opening day from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m., where they can explore the exhibition and meet some of the artists involved. Additional details about participating artists can be found on NHCC's website at nhccnm.org/museum.

The National Hispanic Cultural Center operates under the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs and aims to preserve and promote Hispanic culture through various programs throughout its extensive campus.
