The Western New Mexico University Men's Cross Country team has been ranked third in the 2025 Lone Star Conference Preseason Poll, according to an announcement from the league office. The poll results were determined by votes from conference head coaches, sports information directors, and selected media members.
West Texas A&M received the top spot in the poll with 419 points and secured 27 out of 28 first-place votes. DBU was ranked second.
Two student-athletes from Western New Mexico were highlighted as Runners to Watch for the upcoming season. Juniors Michael Castorena and Samuel Ketcham were recognized for their potential contributions this year. Castorena, who previously earned a place on the LSC All-Academic Team in 2024, is aiming to build on his past performance.
The Mustangs are set to begin their season on September 6 in Colorado Springs at the UCCS Rust Buster meet.
