University of New Mexico head football coach Jason Eck addressed the media at a luncheon on Tuesday, discussing the upcoming game against the University of Michigan. The match is scheduled for 7:36 p.m. Eastern at Michigan Stadium, known as "The Big House," and is expected to have the largest audience ever for a Lobo football game. Fans can watch it on NBC or Peacock, and listen via 770 AM/96.3 FM KKOB with Robert Portnoy starting coverage at 4:30 p.m. Mountain Time.
This game marks Eck's debut as head coach with UNM, which has introduced 75 new players to its roster, including 48 transfers—42 from Division I—and 27 first-year students. Jack Layne, a transfer from Idaho, will start as quarterback for UNM, while Michigan will field Bryce Underwood, a freshman from Detroit.
The Lobos are returning only five starters from last year and have revamped both their offense and defense. However, they benefit from experienced leadership with 31 transfers having been starters at their previous schools.
A related event, "Lobo Talk," will take place tonight from 7–8 p.m. at Sandia Resort & Casino's Sandia Sports Bar. Coach Eck will be joined by offensive line coach Cody Booth and lineman Richard Pearce for the live show airing on 770 AM/96.3 FM KKOB. Fans can participate by calling in with questions.
