Eastern New Mexico University (ENMU) has announced that Meilana Lopez will join its softball program as a graduate assistant for the upcoming season. Head softball coach Amanda Fefel highlighted Lopez’s familiarity with the team, saying, "Having Meilana as an addition to our coaching staff will help elevate our outfielders in the next level of play. Since Meilana played under Coach Smith and I for two years, she fully understands our culture, expectations, and goals as a program. We love having our own return and give back."
Lopez spent the last two seasons playing at ENMU after transferring from Paris Junior College in Texas. At Paris JC, she accumulated 64 hits, 52 RBIs, and 40 runs scored over two seasons. Her defensive skills were also noted during her collegiate career; she achieved a perfect fielding percentage of 1.000 in the 2025 season and an overall .970 fielding percentage while at ENMU.
In her new role as graduate assistant, Lopez will support the coaching staff by working with outfielders and hitters. She will also be involved in managing social media projects, organizing camps and clinics, recruiting on the Pacific West Coast, and participating in community service activities.
