New Mexico United has acquired defender Kipp Keller on loan from Minnesota United FC for the remainder of the 2025 USL Championship season. The move is expected to strengthen New Mexico United’s defensive options as the team continues its campaign.
“We’re excited to welcome Kipp to New Mexico United,” said New Mexico United’s Sporting Director Itamar Keinan. “He brings a strong pedigree and a wealth of experience to our backline. His addition gives us another important piece as we work toward achieving our goals this season.”
Keller, 25, has played at several levels of American soccer. He developed at Saint Louis University before being selected fifth overall in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft by Austin FC. Since turning professional, Keller has made 64 appearances across all competitions, including 29 in Major League Soccer.
During the 2024 season with FC Cincinnati, Keller played in 24 matches spanning four competitions: he appeared in 16 MLS regular-season games, three Leagues Cup fixtures, three CONCACAF Champions Cup matches, and two games with FC Cincinnati 2 in MLS NEXT Pro. In total for that year, he logged 1,159 minutes on the field.
Later in 2024, Minnesota United FC picked up Keller during Stage 1 of the MLS Re-Entry Draft. In the current season, he has made eight appearances and accumulated 520 minutes with Minnesota United 2 in MLS NEXT Pro.
Keller will be available for selection by New Mexico United once league and federation approvals are completed.
