The New Mexico Museum of Space History will host its next Launch Pad Lecture on September 5, focusing on the contributions of women in space exploration. The event, titled "Women of Space," will be presented by Carolyn Peeler, a U.S. Air Force veteran and current president of both the Holloman Tuskegee Airman Chapter and the Desert Basin Toastmasters Club.

Peeler plans to discuss women identified by NASA as significant contributors to the space program. She will cover their backgrounds, achievements in space exploration, and their continued impact on STEM fields after their time at NASA.

"She will explore their diverse backgrounds, their groundbreaking contributions to space exploration, and their ongoing legacies in supporting STEM long after their time at NASA," according to the museum's announcement.

Peeler has over 25 years of military service and a career in Civil Service at Holloman Air Force Base. She holds dual master’s degrees in Project Management and an MBA from the University of Maryland. Peeler is also recognized as a Distinguished Toastmaster with more than three decades of membership in Toastmasters International.

The lecture is scheduled for Friday, September 5, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM MDT at the New Horizons Dome Theater inside the New Mexico Museum of Space History in Alamogordo. Admission is free and attendees will be offered coffee and donuts.

The Launch Pad Lecture Series takes place on the first Friday each month. Topics typically range from historical aspects of space travel to discussions about its future. More information can be found on the museum’s website at www.nmspacemuseum.org.
