New Mexico State University Athletics has announced the return of the Lil' Aggies Youth Club, a free program for children aged 17 and under. The initiative is a collaboration with White Sands Federal Credit Union (WSFCU) and Van Wagner.
The club aims to engage young fans with NM State Athletics while also encouraging financial literacy. To join, participants must open a youth account at WSFCU with an initial deposit of $15. The credit union will waive the membership fee for these accounts.
Membership benefits include a welcome package with a T-shirt, lanyard, and membership card, as well as birthday cards during the member's birthday month. Members may be selected as "Lil' Aggie of the Game" and can participate in challenges and events. The program features age-appropriate money lessons through the Money Mammals Program and hands-on goal setting activities. There are no monthly fees or minimum balance requirements, and accounts earn dividends on every dollar saved.
Teens aged 13 and older receive additional perks such as access to debit cards, online and mobile banking, and budgeting tools.
Phillip Fifield, President & CEO of White Sands FCU, said: "We're thrilled to partner with NMSU in supporting the Lil' Aggie Club, which aligns perfectly with our mission to serve and empower families in our community. By sponsoring this program, we're helping to create exciting and educational experiences for local youth while strengthening the bond between young fans and our hometown university, New Mexico State Aggies."
Amber Burdge, Acting Athletic Director at NMSU, stated: "We are thrilled to bring back the Lil' Aggies Club in partnership with White Sands Federal Credit Union, one of our strongest local partners. Their commitment to the Las Cruces community aligns perfectly with our mission, and we look forward to supporting the next generation of Aggie fans through this exciting initiative."
To enroll in the club, parents or guardians should visit a White Sands FCU branch with their child’s Social Security card and make an initial deposit of $15 into a new youth account.
