Families attending University of New Mexico (UNM) Lobo Football games in 2025 will have a new opportunity to bring children for free, thanks to a recently announced initiative. The “Kids 12 & Under Get In Free” offer allows fans who buy a single-game general admission ticket in the North End Zone to receive up to two complimentary tickets for children aged 12 and under for the same game.
The initiative is available for all 2025 home games except the Rio Grande Rivalry scheduled for September 27. The program is sponsored by The Education Plan, a state-backed 529 education savings program that provides families with flexible, tax-advantaged options to help pay for qualified education expenses.
Tickets must be purchased and redeemed online at www.GoLobos.com/tickets by selecting Football and then the “Kids Free Initiative.”
“We want to create a great home field advantage for Lobo Football, and the best way to do that is to have our stands full,” said Vice President and Director of Athletics Fernando Lovo. “But we also recognize that families are making tough decisions with their discretionary income, and this feels like a win-win. It provides affordable access to a great product and a memorable experience for kids and parents alike.”
Lovo continued, “These student-athletes are incredible representatives of our university and our state. Giving the next generation a chance to see them up close and to dream big is absolutely the right thing to do.”
This ticket offer is part of UNM’s broader efforts to improve accessibility and enhance the fan experience at football games. Additional affordability measures are expected to be announced soon.
UNM has also invested $1.2 million in video board upgrades at University Stadium, aimed at providing clearer visuals and replays during games. On the field, two Lobos were recently named to the Preseason All-Mountain West Team, marking the first offensive player from UNM recognized in eight years. Under new Head Coach Jason Eck, the team has added 75 new players this season, including four All-Americans.
The first home game eligible for the free kids’ ticket offer will take place on Friday, September 6 against Idaho State. Other participating games include October 18 versus Nevada, October 25 against Utah State, November 15 versus Colorado State, and November 28 against San Diego State.
