The University of New Mexico Athletics Department has announced that admission to women’s soccer, softball, baseball, and outdoor track & field events will now be free for the general public. This change expands the list of complimentary, non-ticketed competitions to include these sports alongside women’s swimming & diving, men’s and women’s tennis, and men’s and women’s golf home events. However, admission to women’s volleyball and indoor track & field meets at the Albuquerque Convention Center will still require tickets.

This initiative is among the first introduced by Vice President/Director of Athletics Fernando Lovo and his new leadership team. The department aims to improve the fan experience and strengthen ties with the local community.

“Engaging our community in all aspects of Lobo Athletics is one of our highest priorities,” said Lovo. “By offering complimentary admission to several of our Olympic sports, we’re making a strategic decision in access, energy, and community pride. We want more fans, families, and young athletes across New Mexico to experience the passion of our student-athletes and the excitement of college athletics up close. This initiative is about more than just attendance — it’s about building a stronger connection between the Lobos and the community we proudly represent.”

While tickets are no longer required for these specific sports, fans are encouraged to support Lobo Athletics through other means such as joining the Lobo Club or contributing to enhancement funds. Supporters can also purchase season tickets or group packages for football or basketball programs. The department noted that postseason competitions may still require paid admission due to NCAA or conference regulations.

The department addressed questions from previous ticket holders regarding changes like the discontinuation of the Lobo Pride Pass—which is no longer needed for newly free events—and options for purchasing volleyball season tickets instead. Fans interested in attending volleyball matches can buy single-game or season tickets via GoLobos.com/tickets or by calling (505) 925-5626.

For further details on this initiative or ticketing information, individuals can visit GoLobos.com or contact the Lobo Ticket Office.
