The 2025 Pre-Legislative Business and Social Hour (BASH) was held last night, featuring Senate Minority Leader Bill Sharer as the special guest. Sharer delivered a message focusing on unity and positive change within the state. He discussed the challenges faced by legislators and effective ways for citizens to engage with them.
Senator Sharer urged attendees to participate in the legislative process by attending Capitol sessions, meeting with legislators, and testifying at committee hearings. He emphasized that New Mexicans have the power to influence legislative decisions through emails, calls, and personal interactions. Following his speech, he engaged with attendees by answering questions.
The event also included updates from NMBC on key bills and initiatives expected during the upcoming 60-day session. They provided information on how New Mexicans can get involved and stay informed about legislative matters. The organization expressed optimism about improving the state through collective efforts.
Marc Powell, President of the New Mexico Automotive Industry Alliance (NMAIA), addressed concerns regarding proposed bills that could impact dealerships within their network. He stressed the importance of collaboration within the auto industry to address crime-related issues.
In addition to speeches, attendees had opportunities to connect with community leaders, including several senators present at the event. The evening featured a meal from Tomasita’s Restaurant and offered valuable insights into state affairs.
