The Nusenda Foundation has announced the recipients of its 2024 Community Rewards grants, distributing $700,000 to 72 organizations in New Mexico and West Texas. This marks the first time the foundation has extended its support to West Texas.
Joe Christian, President and CEO of Nusenda Credit Union, said, "This year’s Community Rewards grants reflect Nusenda’s ongoing commitment to strengthening the communities we serve. As our membership now extends into West Texas, we are proud to support this region for the first time."
Sara Keller, Senior Vice President of Community Engagement and Executive Director of Nusenda Foundation, added, "We are honored to work alongside these organizations who perform crucial work in their communities."
The Community Rewards program is a collaboration between the credit union and its members. Members earn cash back by making ten or more signature-based transactions monthly with their Nusenda Visa debit cards while contributing to the grant program. They can direct their contributions geographically and choose from five focus areas: education, healthcare, environment and wildlife, the arts, and community service. The funds are distributed through grants that empower local nonprofits addressing critical needs.
In 2023, $634,100 was awarded to 108 programs. The increased funding this year highlights the foundation's dedication to supporting initiatives that drive meaningful change.
