The New Mexico History Museum will host the Native American Portal Youth Winter Show and Sales on December 7th and 8th, 2024 from 10 a.m to 4 p.m. The event, which offers free admission to both the show and the museum, will take place in the museum's main lobby at 113 Lincoln Ave.

This annual event showcases the talents of young Native American artists aged five to seventeen. These youth artists will present and sell their work across various artistic mediums. The initiative aims to support the development of these young artists, who are descendants of current members of the Native American Artisans Portal Program.

The program highlights the importance of continuing Native American artistry traditions. It provides a platform for artisans to display their handmade items under the portal of the Palace of the Governors, a practice that has been ongoing for decades. The array of handcrafted items includes pottery, textiles, and jewelry made from traditional materials like turquoise, coral, and silver.

Visitors can enter through the main entrance at 113 Lincoln Ave., with free access granted to all attendees. This event allows buyers to interact directly with artisans while supporting emerging talent in Native American art.
