Additionally, the City of Las Cruces invites residents to participate in several upcoming events and initiatives. On Thursday, September 19, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., there will be an open house for the Griggs Walnut Ground Water Plume Superfund at 153 N. Cottonwood.

The city is also conducting a corridor study for University Avenue from I-10 to I-25 and seeks public input on its future design. A multi-day workshop focused on envisioning the future of the El Paseo and S. Solano MRA area will explore various design options.

Furthermore, the City of Las Cruces Housing & Neighborhood Services section has prepared a report on Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) activities.

High school students interested in learning about city operations have an opportunity to engage with various departments through a new program designed to provide insights into local government functions.

Public comments are invited for the Realize Las Cruces initiative on September 10, 2024, from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM at the East Mesa Public Safety Complex's Main Conference Room located at 550 N Sonoma Ranch Blvd.

Residents can also attend financial literacy workshops hosted by the City of Las Cruces in collaboration with the United Way of Southwest New Mexico. These sessions will cover budgeting techniques and other financial management skills.

Lastly, the OIR Group, hired by the City of Las Cruces in 2021 to audit the police department, will hold a community outreach meeting on Monday, August 26, 2024.

Community Engagement continues to facilitate programs aimed at educating high school students about local government operations and available resources aimed at improving community life.
