CULLS announces six faculty promotions

ORGANIZATIONS IN THIS STORY

The College of University Libraries and Learning Sciences (CULLS) has announced the promotion and tenure of six faculty members this year. Alyssa Russo, Stephanie Moore, and Amir Hedayati have received tenure and were promoted to associate professor, while Vanessa Svihla, Lori Townsend, and Audra Bellmore have been promoted to full professor.

Amir Hedayati, Ph.D., an educational researcher focused on ethics and equity in the workplace, has been promoted to OILS Associate Professor. Hedayati's work has garnered multiple awards from conferences such as the American Society for Engineering Education and has been supported by the NSF. He teaches courses including Ethics and Diversity Training in the Workplace at CULLS.

Stephanie Moore, Ph.D., also promoted to OILS Associate Professor, is the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Computing in Higher Education. Her work includes a fellowship with the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy and Dollar General Foundation focusing on learning technologies for adult literacy. She is co-PI on a $2.9 million NSF grant aimed at developing intelligent systems at UNM.

Alyssa Russo, MLIS, now an associate professor, serves as a Learning Services Librarian and subject liaison for Communication and Journalism at University Libraries. Russo develops information literacy programming and supports research efforts within her department.

Audra Bellmore, Ph.D., promoted to full professor, holds several roles including Curator of the John Gaw Meem Archives of Southwestern Architecture at UNM's Center for Southwest Research & Special Collections. Bellmore chairs the UNM Regents Historic Preservation Committee and specializes in material culture studies.

Vanessa Svihla, Ph.D., has been elevated to full professor in Organization, Information & Learning Sciences (OILS) as well as Chemical & Biological Engineering at UNM. Svihla’s scholarship focuses on diversity, equity, inclusion, identity, agency, creativity, equity, and organizational change.

Lori Townsend (Shoshone-Paiute), MLIS—promoted to full professor—is an Assessment Coordinator and Learning Services Librarian whose research interests include cultural humility and information literacy. Townsend is also a series editor for Bloomsbury Libraries' series on Teaching Information Literacy Today.
