A New Mexico State University professor has been honored with a national award from the Association of Information Systems.
Rajaa Shindi, an assistant professor of accounting and information systems in the College of Business, received the AIS Volunteer of the Year Award for 2023-2024.
The Association of Information Systems, a nonprofit organization that strives to advance the practice and study of information systems, bestows the award to recipients who have made exceptional contributions to the information systems industry and student organizations.
“Receiving this award is a great honor that recognizes my efforts, dedication to student success and commitment to serving,” Shindi said.
Shindi established NMSU’s Association of Information Systems student chapter in 2021. The group operates on a mission to provide opportunities for students to participate in the information technology community and explore related careers. Among other activities, active members facilitate a workshop series to share their knowledge in information systems with the greater community.
“The award acknowledges Dr. Shindi’s dedication to serving and supporting student success at both local and national levels,” the Association of Information Systems said in a statement. “Her tireless efforts have had a significant impact on the community, inspiring and motivating everyone she works with. Her outstanding commitment to driving growth and innovation within the industry sets a great example for all members.”
The group itself also won a recent award from the Association of Information Systems. It beat more than 40 other universities in the United States to win the New Student Chapter of the Year award for the 2022-2023 academic year. It also won the Outstanding Community Service Award.
