The student chapter of the University of New Mexico's American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) recently secured second place in the ASME Innovative Additive Manufacturing 3D (IAM3D) Challenge.

The national competition offers mechanical engineering and multidisciplinary undergraduates a platform to re-engineer existing products or create new designs. Participants are assessed on creativity, ingenuity, application of engineering design principles, and utilization of additive manufacturing technologies.

The UNM team's project featured drones capable of performing various tasks, including flying and picking up a cube.
