The 13th annual Folk Art Flea, organized by the Museum of International Folk Art (MOIFA) and the Friends of Folk Art (FOFA), is set to take place on Saturday, May 4 at the Santa Fe County Fairgrounds. The event aims to support MOIFA's education programs and exhibitions, such as La Cartonería Mexicana / The Mexican Art of Paper and Paste, Staff Picks: Favorites from the Collection, and Between the Lines: Prison Art & Advocacy.

According to Marcia Lenihan, co-chair of the Flea, "The Folk Art Flea is a Santa Fe favorite; people come back year after year for the great selection and bargain prices. You’re sure to find a wonderful new addition to your collection, your wardrobe or your home."

Linda O’Leary, Co-chair of the Flea, emphasized the importance of supporting the museum through the event, stating, "Shopping the Folk Art Flea is such a great way to support the Museum of International Folk Art."

The Folk Art Flea serves as the largest fundraising activity for FOFA, having raised over $900,000 in support of the museum over the past 12 years. Donations from patrons, collectors, and folk art lovers make the event possible. FOFA accepts donated items year-round and will be hosting four drive-through donation days leading up to the Flea on April 6, 7, 20, and 21.

For those interested in attending the event, the Folk Art Flea will offer free admission to the public from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. FOFA members, however, will enjoy early-bird admission from 9-10 a.m.

The Museum of International Folk Art, a division of the Department of Cultural Affairs, holds the largest collection of international folk art in the world, with over 160,000 objects from more than 100 countries. The Friends of Folk Art (FOFA) is a volunteer support group of the Museum of New Mexico Foundation dedicated to advancing educational programs and experiences in the world of folk art.
