Bernalillo County Manager Julie Morgas Baca has announced her retirement to the county commission. Ms. Baca, who assumed the role in 2015, has decided to step down from her position. The news of her retirement was met with appreciation and recognition from her colleagues.
"I would like to thank Julie for all her hard work and know that we will continue to carry out many of the initiatives she started," expressed Commission Chair Barbara Baca, acknowledging Julie's dedication and contributions to the county. Barbara Baca also emphasized the importance of collaboration on key issues such as public safety, behavioral health, and homelessness, highlighting the ongoing commitment to these critical areas.
"Julie has put her heart and soul into her work here at Bernalillo County and it has been a pleasure to work with her. We will continue to work together on the highest priorities of public safety, behavioral health and addressing homelessness, to name a few. I am thankful Julie will be with us through the end of this fiscal year and I know we can develop a smooth transition in leadership," added Barbara Baca, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to work alongside Julie until the end of the fiscal year.
