Barbara Baca, Commission Chair | County of Bernalillo

Bernalillo County – Commissioner Steven Michael Quezada extends his deepest appreciation to County Manager Julie Morgas Baca for her outstanding dedication and service to the community over the past nine years.

"As Bernalillo County manager, Julie Morgas Baca has played an instrumental role in guiding our county through various challenges and successes, leaving an indelible mark on our collective progress," says Commissioner Quezada.

Commissioner Quezada recognizes the need for a seamless transition to ensure the continued prosperity and effectiveness of Bernalillo County. In this spirit, the Bernalillo County Commission must be committed to fostering transparency, inclusivity, and community engagement in the selection of the new county manager.

"To that end, Commissioner Quezada calls upon his fellow commissioners to establish a public process for selecting the next county manager, comparable to the rigorous procedures employed in the selection of the superintendent of the Albuquerque Public Schools."

This process should include a series of town hall meetings and public information sessions, providing our residents with opportunities to offer feedback and input on the qualities and qualifications they deem essential in our next county manager.

"As the County Commission embarks on this important endeavor, Commissioner Quezada invites all residents of Bernalillo County to actively participate and contribute their perspectives to help shape the future of our county. Together, we will chart a course that reflects our shared aspirations and values, honoring the legacy of excellence established by Julie Morgas Baca."
