Bernalillo County to host juvenile detention center rapid hire job fair

Bernalillo County has recently disclosed plans to host a rapid hire job fair at its juvenile detention center. The county aims to interview and hire individuals for positions such as youth program officer I and youth program officer II.

According to a press release by Bernalillo County, the job fair is scheduled for Feb. 3, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., at 5100 Second St. NW. Employees of BernCo are entitled to attractive leave accruals, access to career development opportunities, on-site health clinic facilities at Alvarado Square, excellent health care and wellness programs, along with one of the nation's top-tier pension programs.

The roles available require supervision, care, and treatment of residents in custody at the detention center, also known as the Bernalillo County Youth Services Center (YSC). According to another press release by Bernalillo County, these positions offer an hourly wage of $21.50 and $24.75 respectively, along with significant benefits and a $5,000 one-time sign-on incentive upon successful completion of a nine-month probationary period.

County Manager Julie Morgas Baca urges potential applicants to consider joining their team: "Please consider being part of the solution for at-risk youth, their families and our community," says Baca. The YSC prioritizes community safety by ensuring a secure environment for detained youth. According to information provided on the YSC webpage by Bernalillo County, comprehensive services including medical care, behavioral health services, case management, nutrition programs are offered in order to cater to diverse needs of the youth in custody. Additionally highlighted are the children's community mental health clinic and the AYUDA program which provide crucial mental health services and substance abuse treatment for youth in the juvenile justice system.
