Albuquerque Public Schools (APS) has announced that PNM, a leading energy company, has been recognized as its outstanding corporate partner for 2024 due to its significant contributions to the district. The company's partnership with educational organizations, including the APS Education Foundation, and its investment in education are seen as instrumental in fostering future development.

The PNM Resources Foundation plays a crucial role in these efforts. Employee donations to organizations such as the APS Education Foundation are matched by the foundation, effectively doubling their impact. According to an APS press release, PNM actively engages with students by promoting energy conservation and electricity savings through school visits and educational initiatives. The company also participates in community-driven events such as the School Supply Drive, coat and food drives, science fair judging, and volunteering at the APS clothing bank.

Shannon Barnhill, executive director of the APS Education Foundation, expressed her appreciation for PNM's contributions. "It is our honor to announce PNM as our Outstanding Corporate Partner for 2024," said Barnhill. "Not only has its monetary contribution to the APS Education Foundation and Albuquerque Public Schools made a difference, but the time PNM employees devote to the schools has a tremendous impact on our students, staff, and the entire APS community. We are in awe of the gifts of time and treasure that PNM has provided over the years and the positive student outcomes it brings."

Julie Rowey, vice president and chief customer officer at PNM who also serves on the board of APS Education Foundation shared her experience witnessing firsthand how both entities have positively impacted students' lives. "As a board member of the APS Education Foundation," Rowey said, "I have seen firsthand the impact the Foundation and PNM have made on students. It’s not just about serving; it’s about helping shape the future for our children, and I’m proud to be a part of that journey."

The APS Education Foundation works closely with the community to invest in innovative learning opportunities, aiming to enhance the educational experience for APS students. According to information provided by APS, the foundation was established in 1995 and is governed by a volunteer board of directors.
