The New Mexico Department of Health (DOH) has announced that MountainView Regional Medical Center and Three Crosses Regional Hospital, in collaboration with community partners, are jointly organizing "Boo to the Flu". The event will provide vaccinations free of charge according to a press release by DOH. The Las Cruces annual flu vaccination event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, Oct. 28, from 8 a.m. to noon, offering drive-through flu shots for adults aged 18 and over. Additionally, one of the participating hospitals will provide vaccinations for children aged six months and older. This initiative involves the DOH Public Health Division, the United Way of Southwest New Mexico, the Las Cruces Fire Department, the American Medical Response Ambulance Service, Las Cruces Public Schools, and nursing students from New Mexico State University and Doña Ana Community College according to a press release by DOH.

The New Mexico Department of Health stated that "anyone with insurance should bring their insurance card, including Medicaid or Medicare, with them."

"Yearly flu vaccines help everyone defend themselves against the flu virus,” said Travis Leyva, Interim Director for DOH’s Southwest Region Public Health Division, according to a press release by DOH. “Flu vaccines can reduce people’s chances of serious flu-related complications."

At MountainView Regional Medical Center, the event will take place at the hospital's Medical Plaza, located at 4351 E. Lohman Ave, with clear signage to guide visitors. Meanwhile, Three Crosses Regional Hospital, located at 2560 Samaritan Drive just off North Main St., will offer vaccinations for adults only, and signs on both sides of North Main St. will indicate the turn-off for Samaritan Drive, where further signage will guide participants to the drive-through location on campus. No appointments are necessary for these flu vaccinations.

"We are proud to be a part of the Boo to the Flu event again this year, as it aligns with our commitment to the health and well-being of our community,” said Mountain View Regional Medical Center Chief Executive Officer Matt Conrad according to a press release by DOH. “By providing free flu shots and promoting preventive measures, we are taking proactive steps to prevent the spread of flu and protect the well-being of our neighbors."
