CNM selected its first Vice President of Education & Learning

Central New Mexico Community College (CNM) has announced the appointment of Dr. Amardeep Kahlon as its first Vice President of Education and Learning. According to a press release by CNM, Dr. Kahlon is currently serving as the Vice President of Academic Affairs at Paradise Valley Community College in Phoenix.

Dr. Kahlon brings over 20 years of experience to her new role at CNM. She has previously worked as a faculty member at Austin Community College and has been recognized as a Top 10 Trailblazer in competency-based education. Her expertise in this field has earned her a profile in The Chronicle of Higher Education.

During her time at Paradise Valley Community College, Dr. Kahlon led efforts to strengthen career pathways and expand upskilling opportunities. She worked closely with business and industry to create partnerships and her work resulted in notable enrollment gains.

Additionally, Dr. Kahlon served as the Dean at Unity College in Maine, where she pioneered innovative, competency-based workforce education programs with industry-aligned curricula and flexible learning modalities. She formed partnerships across various workforce sectors to meet the diverse needs of students.

In a press release, Dr. Kahlon expressed her excitement about joining CNM and working towards transforming lives and fostering a sense of community through a blend of innovation and education. She is looking forward to collaborating with CNM's faculty and staff to empower learners for the new economy and advance the college towards a sustainable and successful future.

CNM President Tracy Hartzler believes that Dr. Kahlon is the right leader at the right time for the college. Hartzler stated in a press release, "She has the combination of leadership skills and innovative mindset that has led to proven successes in academic, workforce and curriculum development, as well as internal and external partnership-building that are vital for this position."
