The New Mexico Early Childhood Education and Care Department (ECECD) has announced the launch of the second season of "The Early Show with Alax," an online series designed for New Mexico families with young children. According to a press release by the ECECD, this new season will feature a micro-video series called "Ask Alax."

The first season of "The Early Show with Alax" was a great success, promoting ECECD's programs and services while providing caregiving tips in an engaging and accessible format. The show garnered over 5.6 million views and attracted more than 23,000 new YouTube subscribers. It is part of the Moments Together campaign, a statewide initiative by the State of New Mexico aimed at providing caregivers of young children (ages 0-5) with helpful resources and tips. The campaign was even recognized with a Davey Award.

In season two, Alax, the furry intergalactic ambassador of care, will be answering questions directly from New Mexico families. The show will consult early childhood experts to provide informative responses. This approach aims to make the content of the show relevant to anyone experiencing the joys and challenges of caring for young children.

ECECD Cabinet Secretary Elizabeth Groginsky expressed her excitement about the new season, stating, "After the tremendous success of season one, we're thrilled to bring our furry intergalactic ambassador of care back for a second season. As a family-focused agency, ECECD is always looking for innovative ways to engage families and support them with the programs and resources they need to thrive."

"The Early Show with Alax" also serves as a platform to highlight various state programs, including the Child Care Assistance Program, New Mexico PreK, Home Visiting, the Family Infant Toddler (FIT) early intervention program, and food and nutrition programs such as the USDA Summer Food Service Program, the Child and Adult Care Food Program, and the Families FIRST perinatal case management program.

The full episodes of "The Early Show with Alax" are set to premiere in December 2023, offering New Mexico families a valuable resource for early childhood education and care.
