UNM IT partners with Educause for a faculty and student IT survey

The University of New Mexico (UNM) has announced a collaboration with Educause, a nonprofit organization, to conduct a comprehensive survey of students and faculty regarding their IT experiences. According to a press release, this partnership will allow UNM to compare its findings against national benchmarks and those of peer institutions.

"If you receive a survey invitation from esurvey@unm.edu, you have been selected as part of a randomized sample of UNM students and faculty. UNM IT encourages your responses as an individual and as a selected representative of the student and faculty experience," UNM stated.

The survey, conducted by the UNM IT department, is specifically focused on technology related to teaching and learning. It aims to gain insights into the unique IT requirements and challenges within the diverse academic community at UNM. The university hopes to foster an inclusive and collaborative culture where input from students and faculty from various backgrounds and academic fields is highly valued.

Educause, known for spearheading the use of technology and data to enhance higher education, will play a crucial role in this initiative. The organization empowers its community of members through insights, advocacy, valuable resources, and educational opportunities, enabling them to anticipate emerging trends and improve their professional practices.

The UNM Office of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) oversees the IT Department, which comprises five key divisions: Applications, Academic Technologies, Computing Platforms, Customer Service, and Networks. UNM IT provides information technologies and services to support the university's educational, research, and service goals.

"The data gathered will enable us to tailor our IT services and solutions to meet the evolving demands of a dynamic educational environment," stated the UNM announcement. "UNM IT believes that this partnership with Educause will not only help identify areas for improvement but also strengthen UNM IT’s commitment to delivering high-quality, user-centric IT services that empower students and faculty to excel in their academic pursuits."
