New Mexico State University (NMSU) has announced the lineup of startups that will be participating in the 2023 Scale Up NM Pitch Competition, which will be hosted in Albuquerque. The competition, supported by the United States Economic Development Administration and located within NMSU's Arrowhead Center, received over 38 applications this year, highlighting the growing interest in entrepreneurial ventures.
According to a press release, the selected startups were chosen based on their outstanding potential for growth and innovation, representing a diverse range of industries and ideas. The competition aims to provide a platform for these innovative entrepreneurs to showcase their pioneering concepts.
The 2023 Scale Up NM Pitch Competition will feature ten startups: MNT SmartSolutions, IRP Technology, Flow Aluminum, Ventura Prototypes, Hydrosonics, Undesert Corporation, Perspective Components, Southwest Creek Engineering, Scintellite, and Cheshir Industries. These startups will have the opportunity to present their pitches to judges, venture capitalists, and angel investors.
Carlos Murguia, Scale Up NM program manager, expressed his excitement about the quality and diversity of the startup applicants, stating, "These startups showcase the rich talent and innovation that New Mexico has to offer, and we're excited to see how they will contribute to the state's economic development and technological advancement."
The competition will conclude with the recognition of the top three presentations, each receiving a cash prize and access to valuable mentorship and networking opportunities. The event is scheduled to take place on October 26 at Electric Playhouse in Albuquerque.
Dana Catron, deputy director at Arrowhead Center, commented on the impressive lineup of startups, stating, "These entrepreneurs are at the forefront of innovation, and we believe that the Scale Up NM Pitch Competition will provide them with the exposure and support they need to take their ventures to the next level."
